The other night while clearing Supremus trash, one of my fellow raiders randomly started singing "Killer Tofu."  I made a mental note then to youtube Doug (like googling something, only youtubing).  Amongst the criminally rare Doug footage (and bad dub-overs), there was a tribute to "The Golden Age of Nicktoons," which contained the intros for various 90's Nickelodeon programs.  Eventually it came to the "Ren and Stimpy" intro, and it hit me:  Ren totally looks like Yusuke!

On the way home a couple nights ago, a radio commercial using IM slang/acronyms came on, and I was simultaneously proud and ashamed that I did not understand 100% of the lingo.  Does that mean I'm getting old?  Does it mean I'm not an internet junkie?  I try to avoid using internet shorthand unless at least one of two conditions apply:  1) There are time constraints and/or 2) There are space constraints.  Sometimes timing is more important than trying to appear intelligent.

The point of this commercial was that the older generation doesn't always understand what the younger generation is saying.  I can't help but think that, whether through spite or senility, the older generation doesn't do the same thing to us.

Earlier that same day, a customer called, asking if we carried TV ears.  I had never heard of these.  I thought he might be refering to a rabbit ear antenna, or possibly a cordless headset.  I asked him if either of these things were what he was looking for, but he insisted on using the term "TV ears."  I told him we had none, and he hung up.  Googling now, this comes up, so technically I did not lie to him as we do not carry TV ears, though we do have cordless headphones.

The next day, a customer comes up and asks my coworker if we have a boom tube.  He told her no, and she went on her way.  After she left, we googled the term because I swear I've heard of it before.  She was probably refering to this, but I was probably thinking this.  But again, it was true that we carried neither.

Both of these customers were elderly (at least, the one on the phone sounded elderly), and I idly wonder if they were using ultra-specific examples to refer to the more generalized product in order to purposely confuse us, or if they really just wanted that one specific product.  Normally when a customer asks for a specific product and are greeted by a look of confusion, they will either explain what it is that they are looking for, or ask to see substitute goods.  That is why these two instances stand out to me.

So much for making this a WoW log.  Since the last entry, I've gotten a new head, pants, and weapon.  The guild has downed the last two bosses in ZA and Kaz'rogal in Mount Hyjal.  I finally hit exalted with the Consortium, giving me access to their tabard, which completes my outfit for the time being.

I never got a chance to reread my friend's mixi post because it mysteriously vanished, but from my original read-through, it seemed like she said she was appearing in the "Giri Giri HERO" PV.  But I watched the whole thing and didn't see her anywhere!  Maybe I misinterpreted what she said, but I'll never know!

Actually, I do know, and that is what she said.  On the Jpop torrent tracker I frequent, last night there appeared another "Giri Giri HERO" PV, this one dubbed "Original Version."  (Sorry, no link right now.  Maybe later.)  Soon as it finished downloading, I watched it.  This one was more story-driven, as opposed to the promotional nature of the first one.  Sure enough, at 3:13, my friend makes her appearance!  This is a triumph for me because it means I actually understood what she wrote on her mixi!  (Also, she's pretty hot, which doesn't hurt, either)

Youtube is awesome, isn't it?  Sometimes I get bored and just wander around there.  Came across this clip a couple months ago, and I could list the many awesome things magically compressed into 7.5 minutes, but reading through the comments, the guy in the white mask seems to have gotten a lot of attention.  Watching his routine again, there wasn't anything particularly notable, but plenty people seem to love him, so let's do some research!

He goes by the name of Hitori de Dekirumon.  His white mask is his signature trademark, and he never speaks.  Luckily, somebody uploaded a bunch of his clips, and after watching through all of them, I must say, his routines are remarkably creative and entertaining.  He embodies what I love most about dancing.  Not only does he have fun dancing, but he ensures that his audience has fun as well.  It's about enjoying what you do and getting others to enjoy it, too.  These are just some of my favorite clips.

Me?  Blogging again?  If it is indeed true, expect entries to be sporadic and commonly retarded.  I'm even wondering if maybe I should just go back to Xanga to post this, but I left there on a very mysterious note.  It seems like good closure to me.

What to make this blog?  Since forever, I've been considering making a detailed personal WoW log, but reading entries like "I hit revered with Catatonic Koalas after farming Eucalyptus Elixirs all day" or "Taurinem Dinglestroker finally dropped my Beanie of Face-rolling" seems unappealing to me.  It may have been nice to footnote larger events like when my pre-BC guild broke up or when I joined my current one... but why?  Who cares?  Those are private memories.  Of course, that's not to say that I won't make this WoW-related.  In fact, many (when written) entries may revolve completely around the game.  For instance:
Tonight Ianus left the guild.  I think he's suffering from burnout, so I expect to see him back at some point in the future.  Hopefully.
Tonight I got a Wildfury Greatstaff for my weapon collection and Merciless Gladiator's Silk Handguards for my tanking set.
There, wasn't that enrapturing?

Anyway, what actually prompted me to write was this artist I used to listen to roughly 7 years ago.  I haven't listened to her songs in at least 5 years, and the nostalgia brought me back.  The process involved in rediscovering those mp3's is what interested me the most.

It all started with my daily stopover at mixi.  One of my friends had posted a blog about mihimaru GT's new single "Giri Giri HERO".  Not sure exactly what the entry said, but I intend to go back later for a more exact translation.  As a mihimaru fan, I'd already downloaded the PV for the song, so I decided to watch it again.  It just so happens the song is also the theme for the new Japanese movie Shaolin Shoujo, so the PV had clips from the movie.  It looks to me like an entertaining summer flick.

After some brief information gathering, it seems the producer is also responsible for the J-drama "Odoru Daisousasen".  Never seen it, but I'm bored, so it's off to wikipedia!  Hmm... I'm not really familiar with the cast... but I recognize that guest star's name!  Shinohara Tomoe.

Wow, what a blast from the past!  I discovered her way back when I was still in high school.  I wish I could remember the website or the uploader who suggested her, but that was so long ago.  That site was how I first got into J-pop and handily facilitated my transition from techno to J-pop.  The first song the uploader introduced me to was "Kuru Kuru Miracle".  I fell in love with it immediately.  I have no idea why.  Maybe because it's so ridiculously sugary and catchy.  The uploader later added Happy Point and Ultra Relax, both of which I also enjoyed very much.

Hmm... That wasn't so bad.  Maybe I'll be more prone to writing now that I've started.
Don't take that as a promise.
